Adult ADHD assessment, with a clinical psychologist in Brașov
Specialist clinical psychologist. An adult ADHD assessment starts with the developmental history, because ADHD begins in childhood, even when it is recognised only in adulthood. It continues with specific scales for attention and impulsivity and with an equally important question: what else could produce the same picture. You leave with a written report and a clear direction: therapy, a doctor, or both.

Many people come to an assessment after years of contradictory answers. One said it was stress, another that it was “nerves”, another gave a label with no explanation. A clinical assessment puts an end to the confusion.
Inattention does not automatically mean ADHD. Anxiety, depression, poor sleep or exhaustion can produce the same picture. And a low attention profile means one thing if the brain map shows frontal slowing and another if it shows a brain worn out by hypervigilance. That is why the assessment also looks for what else could explain what you are going through.
I am a clinical psychologist, not a doctor: I formulate a psychological diagnosis and a plan. The formal diagnosis and medication belong to the psychiatrist, with whom I collaborate. If you would like to read first about what ADHD is in adults, there is a guide to ADHD in adults at the BrainMap Institute, which I co-founded. Everything about the practice, the fee and booking is on the clinical psychology page.

Signed: Alina Robu
I am Alina Robu — specialist clinical psychologist, specialist integrative psychotherapist and specialist sexologist, with more than 20 years of clinical practice. I am a doctoral candidate in psychology and neuroscience and co-founder of the BrainMap Institute, where the psychological assessment is placed, when useful, alongside the qEEG brain map. I assess with a structured clinical interview and standardised tests, and you receive the conclusion in writing.
I am a psychologist, not a doctor: I formulate a psychological diagnosis and a plan; I do not prescribe medication and I do not make medical diagnoses. When what I find belongs to a psychiatrist, a neurologist or another doctor, I say so directly, write it in the report and refer you there. I work with adults and adolescents, at the practice in Brașov; the interview and the discussion of the results can also be held online.

What an ADHD assessment done properly looks like
Instruments, not impressions
A structured clinical interview and standardised scales for attention and impulsivity. Not “it seems to me that”, but scores that can be compared and repeated.
What else it could be
Anxiety, depression, poor sleep and exhaustion can produce the same picture. I take all of them into account before reaching a conclusion.
A written report, not just a conversation
You leave with a signed and stamped report, written so that it can also be read by a psychiatrist or your GP.
Four steps, in this order
The clinical interview
History, context, current functioning. With ADHD, above all the developmental history, because it begins in childhood.
The testing
Specific scales for attention and impulsivity and standardised tests, some of them at the practice.
What else it could be
Anxiety, mood, sleep, exhaustion. When available, the qEEG brain map is placed alongside.
The results and the report
We discuss what came out and you receive the written report, with the direction: therapy, a doctor, or both.
What is assessed and what you receive
| What is assessed | With what | What you learn |
|---|---|---|
| The developmental history | Structured clinical interview | Whether the difficulties go back to childhood |
| Attention and impulsivity | Specific, standardised scales | A profile by function, not a label |
| What else could explain the picture | Tests for anxiety and mood | The difference between ADHD and what resembles it |
| Brain activity, when available | The qEEG map, at the practice | The data placed alongside the psychological assessment |
The formal diagnosis and medication belong to the psychiatrist. When what I find belongs to a doctor, I say so directly, write it in the report and refer you there.
The table scrolls sideways.
What adults come to the assessment with
What can be done online
In part. The clinical interview and the discussion of the results can be held on video, with nothing lost.
On video
The clinical interview and the discussion of the results, when you also receive the report.
At the practice
Some of the standardised tests and the qEEG brain map, which is done only at the practice.
If you are not in Brașov
I tell you on the phone what can be done remotely in your case and what requires coming to the practice.
A good diagnosis is not a label. It is a map you can do something with.
What people ask me before the first consultation
What does an adult ADHD assessment include?
Can I take an adult ADHD test online?
Do you diagnose ADHD?
How many sessions does the assessment take?
How much does an adult ADHD assessment cost?
What do I receive at the end?
I already have an ADHD diagnosis. Can I ask for a second opinion?
Is it confidential? Who sees the report?
Where is the practice and how do I book?
In the press and on air
The subjects I explain publicly, in national publications and in podcasts.
Not sure this is the right field for you?
A first conversation clears up exactly that. You tell me what is happening, I tell you honestly which field the work belongs to and whether someone else is needed.
