Couples therapy, at the practice in Brașov or online
Specialist integrative psychotherapist. Couples therapy works with the relationship. I look at how you talk and how you argue, at how you manage, or don’t, to make up, and at what each of you brought from the home you grew up in. And when the distance between you has reached your intimacy too, we often work on both together, in the same series of sessions.

It is the right place when the trouble is mostly in everyday life, not only in the bedroom. The same argument, for years, just on different topics. Conversations that end in silence or with a slammed door. And the feeling, more and more often, that you live together, but each on your own side of the house.
I am not looking for someone to blame. I am looking for the pattern: what one of you does, how the other responds, and why the circle closes, every time, in exactly the same place. Quite often the pattern is older than the relationship. Each of you learned it early, in your family, and brought it along.
I am an integrative psychotherapist and a sexologist, so you do not have to choose between two practices that do not know each other. You will find couples therapy on the integrative psychotherapy page as well as here. And if the problem lies mostly in intimacy, everything is on the sexology page.

Signed: Alina Robu
I am Alina Robu — specialist integrative psychotherapist, specialist clinical psychologist and specialist sexologist, with more than 20 years of clinical practice. My integrative training was done under supervision. I am a doctoral candidate in psychology and neuroscience and co-founder of the BrainMap Institute.
I work with couples, adults and adolescents, at the practice in Brașov and online. I do not impose one school: at the first session I tell you honestly what we would work on and roughly at what pace. And if a doctor or another specialist is needed alongside me, I say so directly.

How I work with a couple
What repeats between you
I do not decide who is right. I look at the circle you both step into, so that it can change.
Clear rules, from the start
From the first session we agree on what can be said in front of the other and what cannot. What each of you tells me separately stays with me.
The relationship and intimacy, together
Not as two separate therapies, but as two threads of the same conversation. Desire does not live apart from the relationship: it needs safety.
Four steps, in this order
The first session, an assessment
What brings you, since when, what you have tried. At the end, the direction.
The pattern between you
Where the conversation gets stuck and what each of you brought from your family.
A plan in stages
Every stage has a clear aim and a sign by which we know it has been reached.
Intimacy, when needed
If the distance has reached the bedroom too, we work on it in the same series of sessions.
Couples therapy or sexology: what each one works with
| Couples therapy works with | Sexology works with |
|---|---|
| How you talk and how you argue | Desire that has dropped or disappeared |
| The patterns brought from your families | Pain, erection, orgasm |
| Everyday trust and closeness | The shame and pressure around them |
Often it is both. With me you do not have to pick perfectly at the door: the first session makes clear what we will work on.
The table scrolls sideways.
Why couples come to therapy
Couples therapy online
Not every couple can get to the practice: some live in another city, others in another country, others simply cannot make it at that hour. The online session is the same session, on video.
How it works
On video, 60 minutes, at the same fee as at the practice. We agree on the platform, Zoom or WhatsApp, the day before. The same questions, the same plan.
Where you sit
You can both sit in front of the same screen or, if you live in different cities, each of you connects from where you are. The rules are the same as at the practice.
What you need
An hour in which nobody interrupts you or can hear you, and a stable connection.
When online is not the right place
In an acute crisis, when there is an immediate danger to one of you or to someone else, you do not wait for an appointment: call 112 or go to the nearest emergency room.
I am not looking for someone to blame. I am looking for the pattern.
What people ask me before the first consultation
Do we both have to come?
What if my partner does not want to come?
How much does couples therapy cost?
What is the first session like?
How many sessions are needed and how often do we meet?
Do you take one of our sides?
Is what we say confidential?
Couples therapy or sexology: where do we start?
Can couples therapy be done online?
How do we book?
In the press and on air
The subjects I explain publicly, in national publications and in podcasts.
Not sure this is the right field for you?
A first conversation clears up exactly that. You tell me what is happening, I tell you honestly which field the work belongs to and whether someone else is needed.
